A BILL to amend article three, chapter seventeen-a, of the code
of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as
amended, by adding thereto a new section, designated section
twenty-four, relating to motor vehicle administration;
original and renewal of registration; registration plates to
state, county, municipal and other governmental vehicles;
and requiring the division of motor vehicles to keep an
exact count of these registration plates and to issue
appropriate devices to be attached to the plates each year.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article three, chapter seventeen-a of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section
twenty-four, to read as follows:
ARTICLE 3. ORIGINAL AND RENEWAL OF REGISTRATION; ISSUANCE OF
CERTIFICATES OF TITLE.
§17A-3-24. The state and local government vehicle accountability
act.
The commissioner shall keep an exact and separate count for
the registration of state, county, municipal and other
governmental vehicles and for each state, county, municipal and
other governmental department, division and agency and report
this information to the governor and the Legislature every tenth
of January. Each such vehicle shall have an appropriate device
attached to the registration plate each year to indicate the year
for which the vehicle has been registered or the date of
expiration of the registration. This device shall be the same
device designated by the commissioner for all other motor vehicle
registration plates. There shall be a fee of one dollar for each
separate device to be attached to the governmental vehicles'
registration plates.
